Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.
